Following theCall for Ideas “Innovation Beaches”, won by MaPlage.info, the Community of Communes of the Ile d'Oléron accepts to be a pilot territory for the 2021 season.

1st pilot territory in New Aquitaine

In order to facilitate the collection and dissemination of beach data, Île d'Oléron is one of the first territories to test the MaPlage.info solution this year.

Ile d'Oléron is located off the west coast of France, and it is the second largest French island after Corsica. It is connected to the mainland by a bridge, and has many sandy beaches, dunes as well as pine forests and fishing ports.

Its beaches stretch over a distance of more than 100 kilometers, and have 17 supervised swimming areas (including 9 equipped with bathing chairs for people with reduced mobility), and more than 80 Lifeguards are present from 11 a.m. to 19 p.m. to monitor the beaches during the summer period, which encompasses the months of July and August.

17 first aid stations equipped for the 2021 and 2022 seasons

The community of municipalities of the Ile d'Oléron took a strong interest in our solution, and after various discussions, deemed it useful and relevant to give our solution a chance, and therefore undertook to test MaPlage.info on its 17 first-aid stations for the years 2021 and 2022.

We are delighted to start the adventure together, and we look forward to the start of this beautiful 2021 summer season with the Ile d'Oléron and our other pilot territories!
